TuneLab: Lynam just wrapped up a stint on the highly touted Hinder/Eighteen Visions tour. How did those shows turn out and what type of antics did the guys in the other bands pull on Lynam for the last night of the tour?

David Lynam: Man, I can't even count all of the things they did. The real kicker for me was them vaselining my drum sticks. Our intro started, I sat down behind the kit and immediately grabbed them and thought, "OH SHIT!" There was no relief. They got every one of them. I had to get my tech to haul ass out to the bus and get me new sticks. They got us good though. Baby powder, why even on the last song they came out and took my drum kit off the stage ... WHILE I'M PLAYING IT.

Jacob Lynam: Not to mention there merch guy coming out on stage in full bondage and beating us with a whip.

TL: The band signed on with DRT Entertainment to release its label debut. Were you guys approached with any other offers and if so, what was it about DRT that led to Lynam's signing with them?

DL: We had a couple of other offers but ultimately it was Derek Shullman's involvement with DRT that led us to go with them.

TL: Lynam's national debut 'Slave to the Machine' was released in July, but has really been picking up steam lately. What is the band's reaction to the sudden rise in sales and attention surrounding the group?

DL:
Well we new the Hinder tour would generate a big hype for the band so we kind of expected that. We're thrilled to be playing in front of new faces and to have new fans. It's what we've always dreamed of.

TL: Lynam is comprised of three brothers. How does this trait separate Lynam from your peers?

DL:
We get along like brothers. We fight, we bicker but we're also best friends. Your liable to see all of us hanging out at a club here in town when we're off. We're not only business partners, we're friends too.

TL: "Tanis" was the band's first single and there is some interesting history surrounding the word. What does "Tanis" mean to the band and how was it chosen as the first single?

DL:
It's about a lost city in Egypt. Other than that, who knows. Man, I'm the drummer. I don't pay attention to stuff like that. I just show up and play, lol.

TL: How has having parents who were both formerly immersed in the music business helped Lynam in reaching the band's goals?

DL:
Hahahahahah. It hasn't helped at all. We thought riding their coat tails would get us in the door at a few places but nope.

TL: What should bartenders expect to be making when Lynam gets thirsty after a show?

DL:
Making? Nothing, just give us your beer and your bottles of jager .. we'll make a little concoction called a "Bad Ass hangover." What is that you ask? Just that ... a bad ass hang over the next day. Jacob doesn't drink but me and Mark definitely make up for his share.

TL: The band released two independent albums, 'Bling! Bling!' and 'Life in Reverse'. Although some of the material was re-worked for 'Slave to the Machine', does the band plan to implement more tracks from your back catalogue for future releases?

DL:
Ya' never know. We'll always submit that as new material and if it fits in the direction of the album we're doing then yeah, we might snag a couple of cuts. But Jacob writes SO much it's kind of pointless to grab old cuts when he can write an album in a week.

TL: What are the band's plans for the next single and what type of touring will Lynam pursue in support?

DL:
There's talk of releasing "By Your Side". Who knows who we'll end up supporting next. Tours come and go overnight. There's talk of us doing some Paul Stanley dates, some Buck Cherry dates, but who really knows. I don't know ANYTHING for sure til I'm walking out on stage.

TL: The artwork for 'Slave to the Machine' is quite impressive. What was the concept behind the album's artwork?

DL:
Welp, 'Slave to the Machine' was originally going to be called "Slave to the P**y' but the label, understandibly didn't think they could get it in Walmart and other places like that so they went with "Machine" instead. With that being said, we just went with that theme. All of us guys ... we're all slave to the "Machine" so we had an animated chick on the cover with a somewhat 80's look to her. She's hot too ... for an animated chick ... in the 80's. Don't ya' think???

TL: What are Lynam's new year's resolutions?

DL:
I'm going to try and pack off of downloading so much porn. It's really gotten ridiculous the amount I download. I need a break. Maybe to take some time off of myspace. I guess that's it.

TL: With what other artists would Lynam like to tour in the future and who have been your favorite bands to play alongside thus far?

DL:
Motley Crue, Skid Row, Kiss, Kid Rock, The Cult, Buck Cherry, Hinder again, Black Stone Cherry, Foo Fighters, Audioslave, The Darkness, Coldplay, The Cure, I could name bands all night long that I'd like to tour with.

Hinder, so far, hands down, has been our funnest tour. They're the nicest bunch of guys and so much fun to tour with. We got really close with them those two months we were out with 'em. We miss 'em like a bunch of sissys.

TL: The band's main fan website carries the title of 'Lynam Sucks'. Is this negativity a force to keep the band going?

DL:
Yeah, I figure it keeps us grounded. I mean, we can all get a bit arogant from time to time and it's a good thing to keep us from doing that. Some friends of ours spit on each other on stage to keep themselves grounded. We figure this is a better route b/c if someone spits on us, they're going to be toting an ass whipping home.

TL: That's all guys. Anything else you'd like to add?

DL:
Yes, give us all of your money. We're out to conquer the whole world and won't be stopping til we do! Jagsheimash!
