Yeah, I heard the album a little earlier. I wasnt that much into the new music. But I did love a couple of songs though.

Not impressed. I admit to keeping my expectations low just because of the wait but it just hasn’t hit me yet. “Street Of Dreams” caught my ear the most, but nothing else really hits me, maybe in time…

The world no longer needs Guns N’ Roses, or rather Axl Rose and his backup band.

How have there been 3 comments and no mention of Dr. Pepper yet?
I just want to know the logistics of how I will get mine next Tuesday when hell freezes over!

@ccrosbie33 note the November 23rd date there. That’s this Sunday, not next Tuesday. You’ll be too late on Tuesday as it only works for the 24 hours (also mentioned in Chris’ post).

I rather enjoy this album. I think the first 6-7 tracks are really strong (especially the first 3); even exceeding my (admittedly modest) expectations but the rest of the album has not grown on me yet; with a few highlights here and there. Of course this sounds nothing like GNR (other than vocals of course) but I don’t really care about that. So all in all, I think worth $12, but certainly no Appetite.
I do however think this will sell extremely well. Axl’s career is far from over…but we’ll see on that very soon.

Chris (and Lucas), many thanks!
Your help with this will not be forgotten. If I was better connected I’d offer to have a guy killed for each of you, but since that is not the case, you’ll have to settle for my grateful appreciation as I enjoy my cold (and free) DP sometime in late 08/early 09!
By then maybe “Better” will have grown on me more.

So, I gave the album a half-drunk listen to last night. I’m much more critical when I’ve had a few pints, but at the same time, things tend to also sound better. So, I’m still a bit skeptical.
But after first listen and the unequivocal desire to hate the album….I actually enjoyed it. Is it a classic? No. But I’d give it a 4 out of 5. I had ZERO expectations going into it. The same expectations you have when you bed a fat chick. But I came out alive and well, with a grin on my face.
I’ll be the first to admit when I’m wrong. (Axl’s still a douche though.)

I was pleasantly surprised by the album, but like others, I didn’t expect much from it. The second half is definitely stronger than the beginning. To me it sounds like a hybrid of Appetite for Destruction (which I love) and the Use Your Illusion albums (which I hate). Still, now that Axl has this 15-year-old monkey off his back, maybe GNR can actually return to being a respectable band. Or maybe not.
