Hailing from Chicago, Janus is comprised of four unique souls with only one common goal, to create truly profound and inspiring music for their listeners.

Janus’s sound is created from intense energy which generates a fusion of heavy and melodic music that is not only captured in their recordings, but also electrifying live performances.

Red Right Return, the bands second full length album to be released on November 18, 2008 consists of ten flawless tracks that showcase the bands ability to bring the metal genre a fresh sound.

Janus uses a broad range of dynamics to produce a sound of melodic ethereal backdrops grounded in aggressive, heavy, rhythms.

“Showcasing for labels and jumping through industry hoops can really start to mess with your mind and effect you creatively. We made a conscious decision to “return” mentally and emotionally to where we started from when we first formed this band in an effort to produce the best music we possibly could. “Red Right Return” symbolizes the process of getting back to basics and not focusing on trends or anything in the industry. It is a revolt of sorts against industry trends” states guitarist Mike Tyranski.

Lyrically the songs have very strong universal underpinnings to real life experiences. While the lyrics tell a particular story, the end result is left open to interpretation and the listener is free to draw their own conclusions.

Having played with the likes of the Deftones and Yellowcard, Janus are now ready to take their discerning blend of rock to the masses.

Like the music, dislike his voice. Too bad. Thought we’d have a decent featured band this month. Guess there’s always December. :P

Well, Society Red was the featured band when I first started visiting the site, and that is really hard to top.

If Society Red is hard to top when Janus is this month’s band I worry for you

Worry away then. I won’t lose any sleep over it. I don’t really like their songs too much. The singer’s voice seems like it would fit better is Depswa type songs.

I think it sounds a bit like 30 seconds to mars, if they were metal.

And how does this sound punkish?
