Rhapsody Goes DRM Free
Rhapsody has launched a new DRM-free MP3 store which will contain tracks compatible with iPod’s and other music devices. Single tracks will sell for 99 cents with full albums going for $9.99. Full previews will also be available instead of the thirty second clips available on other MP3 stores.
Rhapsody is offering a $10 credit to the first 100,000 people who create a new account.
Thanks Kyle

Wow, that’s pretty impressive. I take it the labels are all okay with this, too? This is a pretty cool deal. A bit of competition for iTunes ‘eh.

I’m guessing that they are putting a limit on the number of times that you can “preview” an album.

Yeah, I just saw this on CNBC. You’re right Shameson, still the 25 song limit for previews. The CEO never mentioned that and I was getting all excited about being able to hear as many previews as I wanted. I guess it’s just another reason I’ve always preferred Napster and Amazon. Plus, their websites are MUCH more competently designed.

so its the same as their streaming service - you get 25 free songs a month. Only difference is you can buy it in unprotected MP3 now.

pretty much, and they got some connection with Ilike and Yahoo, but that’s not real important to me.
