TuneLab Music Remaining Independent
Three weeks ago, we announced a merger with Cage Rattle. Since then, after much thought and careful consideration, the TuneLab Music staff collectively and unanimously have decided to cancel any plans of a merger and remain an independent entity. We feel this is the best course of action for the website, future plans, and you, the readers. We would like to thank the folks at Cage Rattle for their consideration and hard work. They have big plans for the future as well, and we wish them the best of luck and hope they achieve the success they strive for.

I didn’t expect it either. But I respect the decision and the basis on which it was made. Continued success for both I hope will continue. And thanks for keeping us informed.

What exactly is the basis for this decision? Anything in particular?

YAY, I like the name TuneLab better anyway.
Why did you guys decide to stay independent?
Oh, and bring a forum!!!

Kind of surprising. I was looking forward to the mega-site, but I like what we have already.

I would still have fully supported you guys even if you went to a new site, but to be honest I wasn’t happy at all when you announced a merger.

And yeah, I was a bit reckless in the past. But I will control myself for now on and help out with the forum too. But I’m sure this forum will have no troubles at all. Cuz, that’s all what Tunelab needed.

I think we will get a forum. Ive been waiting for that. If so, I hope people will really use it this time. The other one was nearly useless and got taken over by spam. Dont make it black either, that was a dark place..lol.
Im happy no merge. A mega site would be decent, but I like the group that we’ve come to know, and its easy to tell when we get new members. Taking on their name also makes it feel like this site was the ‘lesser’ of two sites. It might be traffic wise, I dont know really. But most of us call this place home. I wouldnt have felt the same anymore.
Thanks for re-investing your time to make this site even better.

Being an indie site doesn’t hurt at all. I hate mergers. Thanks for rejecting the offer to merge otherwise it would be a headache if the site had to be re-designed. NO HEADACHES!

I’m glad the merger didn’t go through. I’m glad I’m not the only one, I’d hate to sound like a dick. Unless I meant to.

I think most of us didnt want the merger after all. We should have been honest with Jay when he asked us for our opinion.

The merger may have brought some good opportunities, but I do like the feel of this site already. What ever happened to the TuneLab t-shirt idea? I remember there were some really cool designs in the poll a while back.

I think I know how to summarize everyone’s feelings. We all supported the merger because, as a group, we support the mission of TuneLab. If it brings more recognition to the music and the bands, more power to it. However, the community that has developed here can’t be traded for anything else. In other words….Long Live TuneLab!

Yeah, I supported the merger also, but i guess the way i was looking at it was if it was more tunelab than cage rattle i was ok. maybe thats not how it was working out. Over the past 4 years i have come to trust the guys in charge here, so you guys obviously know whats best for us. For real though this site from Audio Aggression days til now has been a part of my every day life. I remember sitting the the IT building on my campus when the announcement to change to tunelabmusic.com happened. I was even sad then. We will support you through anything. Love you guys

I’m getting all tingly inside….I just have to mirror what others have said, I have probably been visiting this site for the last 8 months or so, and since the beginning this site has been my number one music news source, so much so that I have turned a friend to this site. All in all glad to see that things will stay the same with a few tweaks here and there. Thanks for a great 8 months and many more…

I actually kind of figured Tunelab would stick on it’s own when they decided to put a forum on here in the first place. They wouldnt have just made a forum here and then merge over. I figured that Tunelab is better off on it’s own.

Heh, my bookmark still points to audioaggression.com. I can’t do change. It burns me.
I support this decision the same way everyone else supports it. You have to do what’s best for you and your people, at the end of the day. I hope that this doesn’t affect whatever relationship you had with CR.
Rock on. \m/
