Great, one I’d actually like to go to and it’s in freaking Texas.

Pen, Sevendust are just in a category by themselves. Too heavy for a lot of mainstream success. Not heavy enough to earn the respect of metal fans. :-( They’ve almost created their own genre.

DING DING DING We now know why Sevendust dropped off the rockstar mayhem lol. I dunno if it was the right move for them tho? Sure the mayhem tour might attract a lot of slipknot fans, a base that probably wont like sevendust much, but on the other hand, I’m not sure they fit in with these guys either haha.

Wow when i saw the element eighty idea i splooged because they are freakin awesome. then some DOUCHEbag name JAY and to go and RUIN it. Are you telling me they arent recording anymore? ill be disappointed.

I remember seeing an interview with Lajon where he said the reason they dropped off the Mayhem tour was due to $$, not because of Ozzfest.

I just find it funny that the main stage holds a couple bands Ive barely heard of, and yet Sevendust takes second stage. Maybe its better to headline a second stage than to take like 7 or 8th billing on the main. I dunno….

I thought Ozzfest has been pretty much about the “heaviness”. And yet now they are to heavy for mainstream and not heavy enough for ‘metalheads’. I dont disagree completely with that statement. But I woudl ask, “What is the ‘MAIN STAGE” then. Ozzy certainly on his own isnt all that heavy, Metallica I wouldnt consider “metalhead” material anymore(though their following can not be denied) Jon Davis on his own? Um… Yeah, I dont get that main stage line up. Shadowfall is heavier than all of them and makes the main stage. (They are a local band for me, so thats cool..). I just dont know what the point is. Is the main stage about “metal heads” or about “main stream”. Either way, leaving Sevendust off the mainstage doesnt seem to jive with either.

My guess and hope is that they get way more playing time by headlining that second stage where they can really shine.

Headlining second is MUCH better than low billing on the main. Remember what happened with Droid at Family Values last year?

Indeed. Thats why I mentioned it. Well not only “Droid”…but over all. Just makes sense. To be honest , do I think this will finally “launch” them to where they DESERVE to be….no. But do I think, and have said, that its a better move. Yes.

Sevendust has been putting out to many quaitly songs…Id say CDs…but lets start small and build up since for some reason they dont get album recognition. I hope this does for them what Ozzfest has done for some others. To me, its to bad they had to wait THIS long to headline ANYTHING MAJOR. (I know they have done things….but lets be honest about what it has amounted to in their career).

This is an AWESOME (understatement) music site, especially for fans of some bands. Sevendust being one of them. The majority of fans here are pulling for the new album, and , like I, have supported them heavily since their debut, and only supported them more for every CD. Granted, I think most will say one or two CDs stick out more than others….those two probably go without stating….their career has been phenominal. If Ozzfest has done anything for anyone it getting them on the map in BIGGER ways than ’said’ band has done.

On that note, can all us Sevendust fans not agree that we hope this stint on Ozzfest gets them atleast a bump…..a BIG BUMP in some way. Hell, I know Im a huge fan, and Ill take what I can get. Big or just even a few more fans, Sevendust has worked far to hard , put out to much awesome QUALITY music to just put out albut after album of mediocricy in the eyes of the public.

And if they dont get that, I hope they never stop working at it. Longevity is something overlooked, but then looked back on at times. If they dont hit big, I think they will be one of those bands that see the fruits of their labor pay off much later than expected if they stick it out. Or I hope atleast.

Wait a second,,,,isnt the sevendust drummer the dude behind that song slamming the devildriver singer? and they are playing on the same stage? that could be interesting

You refer to the song Enemy, and yes, he is.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Devildriver and Sevendust both, but Dez Farfara, the DD vocalist, is a huge prick. Trust me.

The reason for the song is problems that Morgan Rose had with Farfara During the time of the Coal Chamber breakup. Farfara supposedly trying to get the CC bassist, who is Rose’s wife to sleep with him. She shot him down, and that lead to problems between the two, which lead to CC breaking up. Afterwards Farfara went and talked a bunch of crap about his former band mates to the press, including Rose’s wife. Listen to the Coal Chamber song “Headstones” from their rarities album “Giving The Devil His Due,” which the music was recorded separately from the vocals, and you can already hear Farfara trashing the band.

Just wanted to clarify that to any who are curious.
