TVT Records Terminates Employees
TVT Records, home of Bobaflex, Default and others, terminated the majority of their employees today and are expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection later this week.
The label was once one of the top independent record labels in the U.S. and was Billboard Magazine’s No. 1 Independent Label for five consecutive years from 2001 through 2006.

Damn, will this affect upcoming releases (e.g., Default)?

Not really sure. Sent an email so hopefully I’ll know something later on today.
Wonder if this was the unfortunate circumstances that caused Bobaflex to drop off the Ill Nino tour twice? I’m pretty sure it cost them some $$ to be on it in the first place and their tour support could have been pulled.

hmm, I bet you’re right. You know, if this is happening to TVT, that seems like a hell of an omen for the rest of the indie labels but who knows.

TVT was number one until a year after Sevendust’s last album was released by them. Probably right after sales stopped. Not that they were the sole reason, but I’m sure it played a big part.

yes, it’s too bad cause that’s where 7d got their start. altho sevendust have said that they weren’t always happy with the way they were promoted by tvt i.e. delay in releasing singles.

Default are big enough Jason I highly doubt they’ll have any problems getting it released.

TVT was also once the home to Nine Inch Nails… I believe ‘With Teeth’ had the TVT logo on the back.
Default may be popular, but their popularity doesn’t translate into sales. Their debut is the only one that has gotten an RIAA cert.
