Rage Against The Machine Gig Turns Violent

Posted on January 30th, 2008 by Mikel

Rage Against the Machine’s set turned extremely violent at Melbourne’s Big Day out, an Australian music festival, on Monday, January 28th. The 45,000+ audience pushed and fought their way forward as two men were seriously injured in the ruckus.

Rage were rushed off the stage by show organizers, who threatened to cut the band’s set unless the fans stopped the violence. The current condition of the two men is unknown.

That’s why when I go to a concert I like to stay near the back, away from the mosh, preferably next to women.

I know moshing can turn violent, that’s what my older sister warned me about. An audience of 45,000+ can fuel the drama that besets with injuries, even death, can occur.

With Rage Against the Machine reuniting, Australia can be hyper when it comes to celebs that come from North America.

Whatever the condition of the two men that were seriously injured in the ruckus could be critical considering the crowd’s intensity is immense.

Go ahead if the show organizers should cut the band’s set, it fuels the frenzy based on the type of crowd you get.
Then you get the police brigade to tame them.

This was one wild party!

a guy was once stabbed multiple times beside me in a pit at a staind concert.

It was probably an accident, as the atttacker was trying to slit his own wrists during the “accoustic” section of Staind’s set.

i’m kind of w/ mike here. i’m not really into the mosh pit experience. i’d just rather enjoy some good musicians putting on a phenomenal live performance, that’s enough for me.

Yeah, mosh pits are really uncalled for. I once got punched in the head at a Breaking Benjamin concert while not even in the pit and ended up missing half of their performance cuz they had to take me to the EMS. Almost ruined the concert for me.

Remember Woodstock 99? Limp Bizkit’s “Significant Other” was at the top of rap-metal heap? Fred Durst and co. are to blame for the violence and looting during the performance of one particular song off the album, ‘Break Stuff’. Look at Durst crowd-surfing on a board during the performance. But if looks can kill, crowd-surfing in the mosh pit and suddenly the flow of the crowd begins dispersing, you can be seriously injured on the pavement below. Ouch!

Rage Against the Machine are part of the rap-metal heap, but who can blame them if the show organizers said to cut off is to really mean ‘cut the crap’?

I wonder what song in Rage’s set of tunes planned during their brief live performance particularly ticked this crowd of 45,000+ off to go into such a riot?

Don’t let this be another Woodstock 99!

I’ve been in a few mosh pits in my day but now that I’ve gotten a little older and tired of the stupid ass little “punk/emo kids” in the crowd swinging their arms around in some ass-clown retard dance of sorts I tend to stay near the back and just try and enjoy the show nowadays. It’s a shame when your show is ruined by some idiot crowd surfing or jumping into the crowd and kicking people in the head. It’s rather annoying really.
