WMG Offers DRM-Free Tracks On Amazon

Posted on December 27th, 2007 by Chris

Warner Music Group has joined the DRM-free movement by offering the unprotected MP3 files to Amazon’s digital music store. The labels entire catalog will be added to the site throughout the week. Labels under the Warner Music Group name include Atlantic, Roadrunner and Warner Bros. among others.

Universal Music Group and EMI began offering DRM-free tracks to Amazon earlier this year. Sony BMG is also considering offering DRM-free tracks.

Warner finally caved! This is good news, I’m sure Sony will follow suit early next year.

I wonder…are they just doing this so they can track the songs and sue people for 3000 per song? They are going through this phase of “everything is piracy”, and now they are offering up ALL of their music with no copyright? Granted, this is a really good thing, but it really just doesn’t make sense
