Roadrunner is rediculous, I could probably buy half of the CDs from Best Buy or Amazon for less than they are charging the band

Indie labels are dropping bands too .. it doesn’t matter what label your own .. Roadrunner is a large indie. If your rich DIY .. if your not .. get a safe deal where you won’t get shelved and owe advance money. Its about playing the game right and having some sick management/lawyers.

for some reason. im pretty sure u could take this to court. cuz wouldnt the band have more right to the tracks that they write and perform then the people who pay the band to write the songs.

No, most of the time the label owns the masters and can pretty much tell a band what to do and when to do it, otherwise its bye-bye.

Exactly. When you sign to a label they’re paying you to write songs for them. They’re the ones with the rights.

Less money to bands=less motivation to tour=less money to labels and repeat. The labels need to get their act together. Plus, a line of blow off a hookers ass is much less lucrative when you aren’t using 100 dollar bills.
